November 15, 2007 – Marc Hill, a 5’8”, 160 lb point guard from Bishop McNamara (MD) faxed in his Letter of Intent to North Carolina A&T University yesterday, and judging from his telephone comments, is having no second thoughts. “It feels real good” said Hill of the decision to pick that college. “I feel I made a good choice”. The reasons for his ebullient mood were numerous, as Hill responded “First off, they have my major (web design). I also made a connection with the coaching staff, and the style of play which is fast break, suits me”, when asked to list them. The school, known to those familiar with Historical Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU’s) as ‘A&T’, also offers a well known social life for its students, a point Marc impacted his decision “a tiny bit”, but paled in comparison to “the academics and what the program had to offer”. Coached by Jerry Eaves, a talented head man who won a National Championship with Louisville before garnering National Basketball Association playing and coaching experience, the Greensboro, NC based institution is believed by many to be one of the best teams in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC). Hill’s high school coach, Martin Keithline, concurs with his three year starter that NC A&T is an excellent opportunity; for the reasons stated above, in addition to Marc having paternal family in the Greensboro area. Having visited A&T’s campus both unofficially and officially, Hill chose the institution over Elon, High Point, Morgan State, Wagner, Wheeling Jesuit, and others. What confuses many familiar with Hill – a 12.5 point and 5 dime performer last year that is on the verge of breaking McNamara’s record for career assists – is why the floor general wasn’t more widely recruited. When asked his opinion, Keithline responded with some frustration, “I don’t know. When you look at the point guards he has gone against in our league (the Washington Catholic Athletic Association), he’s more then held his own…It must be his size”. Hill agrees, adding “I think a lot of people overlook me because of my height…But I play hard regardless if the person I’m going against has a big name or not”. Expect this lightening quick guard who loves to penetrate and either find people for finish, as well as pressure opposing ball handers, to do his best to fulfill his senior season goals before matriculating to NC A&T. “I want to win a championship, and lead my team” shared Hill of his desired accomplishments this season. “I also want to make All-County and All-Met or whatever, and lead my team in leading the area in defense”. Congrats go out to Marc Hill. The NC A&T Aggie family got a gem.
Believe that.
