16u First Team

Roddy Peters – NCA, sophomore guard, Suitland HS (MD), 6’3”, 175 pounds – This travel team season will be one of bursting on the scene for Peters, a talented guard capable of manning both backcourt positions; Peters can pat, shoot, pass and doesn’t back down from a challenge. Must get stronger, which will help him defensively and in rebounding, and shoot better from deep. St. Joes has shown interest early, though high majors are aware of Peters.

Aquille Carr – B’More Under Armor Elite, sophomore guard, Patterson (MD), 5’6”, 155 pounds – Quick, aggressive and skilled, Carr creates much fervor when he takes the court, exciting onlookers with his play. Capable of putting up incredible scoring numbers by penetrating and pulling up from deep, as well as finding open players, Carr must do more of the latter, plus develop a stop and pop game to excel in high major ball. South Florida, Villanova, Florida Gulf Coast, Wake, NC State, Tex A&M, Tex Corpus Christi and UNC-Wilmington have all offered him. Many, many others are interested.

Aquille Carr loves to finish via floater.

Mike Kobani - NCA, sophomore forward, National Christian Academy (MD), 6’8”, 215 pounds – Kobani plays with strength and passion, rebounding, blocking shots and finishing. Though he must develop a mid-range shot and refine his footwork, Kobani plays with a welcome maturity ; his game shows nuance like running straight down the court – lane to lane – recoiling outlet passes, and blocking out. Expect his recruitment to trend upwards.

Brandon Austin - Team Philly, sophomore swingman, Imhotep Charter (PA), 6’6”, 170 pounds – Austin plans to play a guard position in college, and is on the way to that goal, as he does play some point forward, can shoot, drive and finish. His handle still has to improve in the open court, as does decision making. BIG EAST schools like Syracuse, Villanova and Rutgers have him on the radar. Temple and Drexel are on him. Must get much stronger for college.

Gabriel Otor-Williams – sophomore forward, Huntington Prep (WV), 6’6”, 210 pounds – A long, athletic shot blocker, Otor-Williams gets after it, relentlessly. Should develop mid-range offense. Indicated he’s currently not highly recruited. That will change.

16u Second Team

Myrek Fowlkus - B’More Under Armor Elite, sophomore swingman, Patterson (MD), 6’4”, 189 pounds – A slasher that can also shoot, Fowlkus shared he has no real collegiate looks at this point. Was very consistent in producing all tourney long. Must further develop his handle.

Dominique Reed - Team Philly, sophomore forward, Trenton Catholic (PA), 6’6”, 208 pounds – Reed is a rugged forward that plays from mid-range in. Can also run the floor. Needs to continue working on interior footwork and shooting form/range, as well as ball patting. Temple, St. Joes, Davidson and Syracuse have expressed interest.

That's Dom Reed doing work around the tin.

Romello Trimble - DC Assault Gold, freshman guard, O’Connell (VA), 6’2”, 175 pounds – A shooter and slasher, Trimble is tracking to be a very good shooting guard on the high major level. He must be a better facilitator, get stronger, and improve his lateral/foot quickness, but Romello is definitely advanced offensively for his age. Indiana, Virginia, Cincy, Va Tech, BC and PSU are showing interest.

Trindale Williams - Team Redemption, sophomore center, Ashley (NC), 6’8”, 220 pounds – VCU, Wake, Va Tech and William and Mary all see potential in Williams, a natural shot blocker that can control the paint. Most of his offense seemed to come from alley oops or put backs, indicating a need to further his shooting and footwork.

Tavon Sabler – Team Melo, sophomore guard, Aberdeen HS (MD), 6’4”, 185 pounds – Long armed and athletic, Sabler is presently a swingman that tracks to be a combo guard in college. Must improve his jump shot. Delaware, Washington State, Indiana and others are monitoring.

16u Honorable Mention

Zachary Douglas – NCA, sophomore swingman, National Christian (MD), 6’8”, 185 pounds – Very athletic, springy and long, Douglas loves to run the floor and finish in transition. Can also play defense, particularly in zone settings where he plays the passing lanes. Has to increase his shooting range and improve ball patting. Douglas has a great upside.

Anton Waters - Team Melo, sophomore forward, Forest Park HS (MD), 6’6”, 200 pounds – Washington, Iona, VA Tech, South Florida, Tulane and UNC Wilmington are monitoring Waters, an athletic, aggressive forward that understands the need to transition from the paint, where he finishes and contends, to the perimeter. He’s making progress in that regard, but must develop a face up game and at least solid mid-range shooting skills.

Anton Waters (seven in red) will defend, like here against first teamer Brandon Austin.

Evan Singletary - B’More Under Armor Elite, sophomore guard, Dunbar (MD), 6’2”, 180 pounds – More of a two guard now, Singletary desires to be a combo guard in college, one that can actually play the point guard. George Mason, ODU and Loyola like Singletary, who must bone up on his handle to be that true combo at the next level.

Michael Anderson - Triple Threat, sophomore point guard, Loudoun County (VA), 5’9”, 155 pounds – Anderson is tough and a gamer, not backing down to anyone. Demonstrated a very good feel for the game and penchant to penetrate. Must work on his left hand and pushing the ball faster. PSU-Altoona has expressed interest.

Trey Boykin - DC Assault Gold, sophomore swingman, Arlington Country Day (FL), 6’4”, 175 pounds – Hyper-athletic, Boykin loves bringing it down on people’s heads. Must further develop his handle. West Virginia and Memphis are monitoring Boykin.

Ahmad Fields - DC Assault Gold, sophomore swingman, Don Bosco Cristo Rey (MD), 6’4”, 175 pounds – Left handed slasher/shooter, fields has to get stronger going forward.
