May 8, 2007 – Looking for a boy’s AAU/travel team action May 18th – 20th, in an age grouping ranging from the midgets of eight and under to those 17 and under giants almost ready to leave high school for college? The Baltimore Star’s 5th Annual Tournament of Champions - aka Bang with the Big Boys - is just your event.

The Stars are still accepting applications from interested teams, which will be required to have a 12 player, two coach roster. Squads can expect to play a guaranteed three games, where the clock will stop after every whistle, therefore maximizing game time.

According to Tony Franklin, Sr., tournament organizer, Stars coach, and organization official, the tournament, “is not for the faint at heart” as “The competition is brutal”. The preliminary list of participating organizations, which includes the Baltimore Stars, Team Melo, Westchester Hawks, Team Next, The R.A.I.D.E.R.S. (out of Philadelphia), Baltimore Select, Team Future, Albany City Rocks, and the New York Gauchos justifies that statement. The Baltimore region’s Dundalk Community College (primary site of the event), will surely be rocking.

The cost for all teams is a competitive $395, with the fee for both the eight and nine year old classifications being waived, “In an effort to reach out to our future” according to Franklin. (The teams will have to play the referee fees, and can expect the same awards upon winning).

All pertinent information can be accessed by visiting www.BaltimoreStars.org. Phone contacts are Tony Franklin (410.207.4239) and Gary Brooks (410.340.1209).

Starting on the 18th of May and concluding the 20th, the Stars truly will boast the best bump in B’More. As a coach, player, parent, or observer, that’s what you want.
