December 14, 2008 - The culmination of the best season in Bob Jones Women’s Basketball history came to fruition recently when the teams’ five seniors signed National Letters of Intent. The Lady Patriots finished 35-2 and won the Alabama 6A State Championship; the schools first championship of any kind. The also finished the season ranked #14 in the ESPN Elite 25 Girls High School rankings. Seniors Jala Harris, Semtria Gideon, Jasmine Green, Kellie and Kylie
Cook all inked letters. Harris and Green signed with UAB, while the Cook
sisters, who are twins, signed with Tennessee Tech. Gideon penned her
letter to Kennesaw State.
(l. to r.) Semetria Gideon, Jala Harris and Jasmine Green; Semetria Gideon brings toughness, defense and energy. A glue type. Only 5'9, but plays bigger. Jala is the point guard; the catalyst. High hoops IQ and knows how to run a team. Sets everyone up, but can get her own shot when needed. Jasmine is the big down low. Scores effectively on the block and is effective out to 10 feet. All three players are smart, heady basketball players that are extremely coachable, good students and better young ladies.
