April 16, 2007 - Not all of the talented young men who participated in the 34th Annual Capital Classic have committed to colleges. Following are brief updates on three of these seniors:
Anthony McClainMcClain, a 7'0", 230lb center has been recruited by the likes of Cincinnati, Tennessee, UConn, and Georgetown, amongst others. As a senior at National Christian Academy (MD), McClain has improved tremendously in all facets of the game, including his strength, footwork, and desire to compete. After supplying 12 points, eight rebounds, two assists and two blocks to his victorious Capital All-Star team, McClain was unwilling to tip his hat regarding his future college home. "I’m going to the Big East, so yeah. I know where I'm going" he said, revealing a sense of humor those who know him enjoy. "I'm just not announcing it yet".
Anthony McClain had helped cinch the game by blocking a three point shot.
Jeff PetersonAs a standout 6'1" point guard at DeMatha Catholic (MD), Peterson has distinguished himself with an ability to not only control a game's temp, find open teammates, and defend, but score as well. His play during the Cap Classic, which included 14 points, two rebounds, six assists, and two steals did nothing but reinforce that skill set in the eyes of observers. Jeff was instrumental in the Capital All-Star's victory. Having orally committed to Princeton in the fall, Peterson decided to reopen his recruitment, and remains undecided, though the field has been narrowed. "St. Louis University, Iowa, and Princeton" were his final three conveyed after the game.
Peterson (10), pushed the ball early, helping to build a significant lead for his team. Though Iowa's coaching staff has departed, he is still interested in the school.
Mike DavisOne of the best players in Northern Virginia at T.C. Williams High School, Davis dropped 10 points, four rebounds, and one steal for the Capital All-Stars. An athletic player with a 6'8", 190lb frame, Mike is capable of posting players, filling lanes, and blocking shots - his athleticism portends good things in the future. "Maryland, Wake Forest, Ole Miss - called today, they want to get in the picture - Auburn and Illinois" along with Binghamton have all been in the process, according to Davis. Auburn has offered, and he plans to visit some schools, including Binghamton, soon. Mike's decision will occur in late April. Because of his length, Davis (right) has played alot of center in high school, but his athleticism will allow him to play forward in college.
