Two hoops hubs set to do battle.

August 2, 2011 – Miles Rawls, Director of the Goodman League has long been involved in summer league basketball, helping to propel Goodman or ‘Barry Farms’, as it’s known to national prominence. Many around the country recognize it for what it is; one of the best outdoor, summertime, professional-level hoops confabs in the nation, held right here in Washington, D.C.

As to be expected, he’s also a great supporter of D.C. hoop supporter, believing this area is like no other in terms of talent, up and down the hoops spectrum.

Well, his Goodman League All-Stars will have an opportunity to prove this area’s basketball standing, via Capital Punishment, an East Coast vs West Coast game being held Saturday, August 20th at Trinity University (125 Michigan Ave, WDC). Goodman’s foes will be none other than a collection of Drew League vets, guys that do work in that Los Angeles, California event.

Both sides are stacked, despite many international pros likely having left by the time the game is played. Goodman has commitments from National Basketball Association players Kevin Durant, John Wall, Ty Lawson, DeMarcus Cousins, Gary Neal and Sam Young, with Warren ‘D-Nice’ Jefferson, Hugh ‘Baby Shack’ Jones and recent second round pick Josh Selby joining them.

Their Drew League counterparts are expecting NBA’ers Nick Young, Demar Derozn, James Harden, Dorell Wright, Brandon Jennings, Javale McGee, Craig Smith, Marcus Williams and Pooh Jeter, along with Bobby Brown.

Why have the game?

“These are in my estimation the two best summertime leagues in America” opined Rawls, known for not only organizing the Goodman League but calling all the games in a lively and entertaining manner.

Tickets are $25.00 general admission and $60.00 for limited floor seating. Providing more entertainment will be an AAU game preceding the main event; Team Takeover, one of the most successful travel team operations in America will play at 4:30p.

Doors open at 3:30p. Tickets are available at select Downtown Locker Room locations (those in D.C.), Shooters, We-R-One, GoGoRadio.com and all Goodman League games. More info can be secured by calling 240.381.9404.

Come join the fun, and witness the battle for supremacy; D.C. vs L.A. Pros vs. Pros.
