November 29, 2007 – This Saturday at Baltimore, MD’s Loyola College, the Charm City Classic will provide hoops mavens a unique opportunity – teams from Baltimore will defend their hardwood turf by meeting squads hailing from D.C., Philly, and New York City. Thank the Hoop Group for revitalizing this once great event, which previously stood as one of the best high school basketball confabs on the East Coast. The action starts at 3:00pm, with two Maryland-based teams, with B’more’s John Carroll taking on Annapolis’ St. Mary’s competing. Following that tilt, 4:40pm Charm City’s own Calvert Hall battles Gonzaga of D.C. The final games pit Baltimore’s St. Frances Academy against Philadelphia’s St. John Neumann-Goretti, after which the city’s Towson Catholic locks horn with New York’s Rice High School. Those match ups are scheduled for 6:20 and 8:00 respectively.
Future Maryland Terp, Sean Mosley, here in Team Melo/Mt. Royal silks, leads his St. Frances Academy against the City of Brotherly Love’s St. John-Neumann Goretti. High school players bound for specific schools, such as Sean Mosley (Maryland), Max Kenyi (Harvard), Kemba Walker (UConn), Jamal Wilson (Rhode Island), Larry Bastifield (Toledo) and Jakub Kusmieruk (South Florida) will all participate, as will uncommitted standouts like Isaiah Philmore, Tyler Thornton, Tony Chenault, Jon Graham, John Morgan-Green and others. Tickets are $12.00 and can be purchased at Ticketmaster and/or at the door. For more pertinent information, access Hoop Group’s website. December 1st, 2007, Loyola College is the place to be. Don’t miss
the Charm City Classic.
