March 25, 2007 - Lee High (Huntsville, AL) senior guard Chase Robinson has completed his duties on the basketball court and now that his season is finished has begun to look seriously at what schools will secure his services this fall. After a solid junior year, Robinson was seeing interest from mostly southern schools, but after a stellar senior campaign, the level of recruiting interest has broadened to include teams from the Midwest and the Northeast.
Alabama guard Chase Robinson averaged 23 points a game last season. “I’ve been hearing from a lot of schools, but my favorites right now are St. Louis, Tulane and Duquesne,” said Robinson, who recently added William & Mary as one of his potential suitors as well. Robinson averaged 23 points, nine rebounds and five assists for Coach Greg Brown’s Generals this past season. Robinson’s play was even more impressive since he had a bulls eye on his back every night and was opponents’ number one target. As a reward for such a stellar season, Robinson was recently named All-Metro, All-State First Team and is a finalist for Mr. Basketball in Class 5A. “It’s great to be honored as one of the best players in the state. It just shows you how dedication and hard work pay off.” “It’s truly a blessing.” Chase has the ability to get to the cup; using his strength to absorb contact, while using his athleticism and quickness to get by defenders. He also excels at creating space to get off jumpers from both mid-range and beyond the arc. Defensively, Robinson displays the same aforementioned quickness when locking down opponents and plays passing lanes well, enabling him to create easy points for himself. Chase also wants the ball at crunch time and Previously, Robinson had been getting looks from Tennessee State, Missouri, Minnesota, Old Dominion, Penn State, George Mason, Auburn, South Carolina, Georgia Tech and Memphis. “I’m visiting St. Louis on Thursday, followed by Tulane on April 10th and then Duquesne later in the month,” remarked Robinson. Chase is well aware of the hoops history at the schools he’s currently favoring. “St. Louis has a Hall of Fame Coach in Rick Majerus, while Tulane and Duquesne are up and coming programs.” “Providence has begun to show more interest and they’ve got a new staff, so I have to give them a look as well.” In the classroom, Robinson has a 2.8 GPA and has a qualifying score of 23 on his ACT test, so grades aren’t an issue. “I’ve been taking my time evaluating the schools, trying
to find the best fit for me both on and off the court. I’m going
to take all my official visits and make my decision afterwards.”
