Lee High guard set to play for Duquesne
April 28, 2008 - Alabama guard Chase Robinson ended his recruitment recently by giving a verbal commitment to Coach Ron Everhart and the Duquesne University program. Robinson visited the Dukes last week after visiting both Tulane and St. Louis University earlier this month. When it was all said and done Robinson chose the Dukes over the Billikens and the Green Wave.
Chase Robinson should be a solid Atlantic 10 player. “I really like the program, the staff and the school overall,” cheered Robinson. The bustling metropolis of Pittsburgh was a big draw for the Huntsville, AL native; illustrating his strong desire to get away from home and play in a major conference. After getting looks from a myriad of schools from across the country, Robinson made his decision last night with his family. Previously, Chase had been getting looks from Tennessee State, Missouri, Minnesota, Old Dominion, Penn State, George Mason, Auburn, South Carolina, Georgia Tech and Memphis. Robinson averaged 23 points, nine rebounds and five assists for Coach
Greg Brown’s Generals this past season. Robinson’s play was
even more impressive since he had a target on his back every night as
the Generals’ number one scoring option. Robinson has an opportunity to compete for playing time immediately; as Duquesne loses senior guard Reggie Jackson and seldom used guard/forward Stephen Wood. He will add scoring and depth to the Dukes backcourt with his ability to play both guard spots. “That was a huge factor for me as well; the opportunity to play a lot early weighed heavily in my decision.” |
