October 18, 2011 - The Hoyas of Georgetown scored 14 points in the fourth quarter to secure a 21-3 victory over the Howard Bison Saturday afternoon at Greene Stadium.

The Hoyas (5-2) rushed for 191 yards against the Bison defense par as Howard suffered their fourth loss of the season. The Bison, 3-4 on the season hosts North Carolina A&T University Saturday and it's Howard's homecoming. The kickoff is set for 1pm at Greene Stadium.

The Bulldogs of Bowie St. defeated Lincoln (Pa.) 22-10 to
improve their record to 4-3. The Bulldogs travel to Elizabeth City State Saturday and the kickoff is set for 1pm.

In other college scores Saturday October 14th. Norfolk St. (6-1) defeated Hampton (3-3) 34-24. South Carolina St. (4-3) beat Georgia St. 23-13. Florida A&M (4-3) over Savannah State (1-6) 47-7. NCA&T (4-2) defeated Delaware St. (2-5) 42-24. Bethune Cookman (3-3) beat Fort Valley St. (1-6) 58-30. Morgan St. (4-3) over North Carolina Central (1-5) 52-3. Grambling (2-4) shutout Concordia (Al.) 44-0. Alabama St. (6-1) over Prarie View (4-3) 20-7. Winston Salem St. remained unbeaten at 6-0 with a 62-7 win over Livingstone. Johnson C. Smith beat Virginia Union 26-19. and Elizabeth City defeated Virginia Union 26-19.

In BCS football the first poll has come out which determines
who will play in the big money $ championship contest at New Orleans in 2012. LSU for the moment has captured the top spot in the race for millions. The Tigers are followed by Alabama, Oklahoma, and Oklahoma State. Boise St. rounds out the top five.

Wisconsin, Clemson and Stanford are are on the outside
looking in. Houston is way outside but they are undefeated this season. The Cougars are hoping for an at large spot at best.

Speaking of LSU they have two starters at the quarterback position in Jarrett Lee and Jordan Jefferson. Jefferson, last year's starter is coming off a five game suspension and has looked good in his return. He is currently the leading rusher with 109 yards and two touchdowns despite
missing the first half of the season.

Gotickets.com now has tickets for the championship game which will be played at the Superdome starting at $975 in the rafters. A princely $110,000 which will get you a suite with 20 tickets and two parking passes. The internet site Farsnap.com's lowest ticket price is $1047.

Georgia Tech and Michigan played their way out of a national championship spot but could still get in a big pay day
by winning their conference championship game. In case you
were sleep both teams lost this weekend.

In high school football Friday, October 14th HD Woodson beat McKinley 25-0. Dunbar blanked Cardozo 51-0. Wilson took out Bell 42-0, and Coolidge stopped Roosevelt 53-12.

The Coolidge Colts have been on a tear in the DCIAA defeating McKinley 31-6, Ballou 31-6, Anacostia 52-0, and Cardozo 49-6. Leading the way for the Colts is senior quarterback Femi Bamiro who ran for two touchdowns in their win over Roosevelt, Friday. Bamiro has thrown for 9 touchdowns and rushed for three this season. In the backfield Senior Stacy Liggins has rushed for 578 yards. His counterpart Junior Jeffery Nesbitt has contributed 211 yards on the ground.

Saturday DeMatha edged St. John's 13-7. E Roosevelt defeated CH Flowers 20-12, Wise beat Parkdale 41-6, Suitland blanked High Point 47-0. Riverdale Baptist beat KIPP 28-6, Friendship Collegiate took out Poly Prep (N.Y.) 35-28, and DuVal defeated Oxon Hill 48-8.

In games to be played this Friday October 21st, Anacostia
travels to McKinley, HD Woodson hosts Ballou and Cardozo welcomes Bell. Dunbar travels to Roosevelt. All games start at 7pm.

On Saturday CH Flowers hosts Bowie. DuVal travels to E. Roosevelt. Oxon Hill goes to Parkdale. Laurel hosts Wise.
Fairmont Heights hosts Friendly and Coolidge welcomes Wilson all games start at at 2pm. At 1pm. Spingarn travels to Mercersburg Academy.
