DC Assault hosts final sanctioned tourney of the season in DMV.

July 29, 2010 – DC Assault, one of the nation’s most well known and highly regarded travel team operations is, like other such outfits, winding down its 2010 spring/summer season. Instead of simply holding a cook out, party or banquet, the DCA guys are still at work getting college exposure for young, high school aged young men.

“It’s the end of the summer, we are going to make sure these young men don't get overlooked” said J.D. Dare of the motivation behind this weekend’s DC Assault Classic (July 30th - August 1st). “It’s the last certified tournament of the summer. We are trying to get some of these guys’ scholarships, and provide an opportunity for some of the local tams that couldn't go to Orlando or Vegas”.

DCA's Jerome Seagears has had a stellar summer, and plays this weekend.

Held at three Northern Virginia locations – Lee High School (Springfield, VA), plus Alexandria, VA’s Bishop Ireton and St. Stephens/St. Agnes high schools – the DCA Classic will present teams in the 15-under, 16-under, and 17-under classifications an opportunity to compete in front of college coaches; according to Dare, given the Classic’s NCAA certified status “College coaches (including Division I program leaders). We are anticipating a lot of coaches”.

A few spots are available, so interested teams should visit TemperamentSports.com for details. College coaches, fans and players should also go there for schedule and other pertinent information.

Action starts tomorrow morning and extends through Sunday. Generally, 15u teams will play at St. Stephens/St. Agnes, 16 squads will compete at Bishop Ireton, and 17u crews lock horns at Lee, where championships will also be held. The charge to observers is 10 dollars per day.

Teams such as DCA’s 17u and 16u Gold units will participate, as will in 17u action Triple Threat, Stafford Hoyas, Team Takeover, Virginia Assault, Baltimore Assault, and others.
