Jordan Roach proved himself one of the best players in DC Assault's TYBS

May 15, 2008 - As was done with the 17u and 16u classifications, i95Ballerz.com offers first and second team squads for the DC Assault Take Your Best Shot Tournament’s 15 and under classification, as well as a couple of 14 and under standouts.

15’s First Team

Jordan Roach, 5’9” freshman G, MD Bulls – simply one of the most outstanding players in the tourney, Roach basically did what he wanted to do, whether that be shooting, driving, stealing, or passing; he was a beast. Though already fairly strong, as a really young guy Roach could benefit from getting stronger, as well as developing more lift and arch on his jumper
Chris Martin, 6’0” freshman G, DC Assault – always one to shoot the ball like a young guy much older than he is, Martin has worked hard on his handle. Resultantly, he can now create off the bounce much better. The next step for him is to use his handle/shooting package to create for others consistently, as he will be a point guard at the high major player, as well as strapping when playing on ball defense.

Kyle Anderson is an eighth grade player to remember. He'll attend Patterson Catholic next year.

Kyle Anderson, 6’5” eighth grade G/F, Playaz – a quarterback as well, Anderson may be young, but has a plethora of skills, including the ability to pass, dribble and shoot. His mobility was slightly hampered due to a knee injury, but nevertheless Anderson will benefit from on going agility/quickness work, as well as becoming stronger. Given his young age, Kyle could be a star in the making.
Myles Mack, 5’8” freshman G, Playaz – a point guard with quickness, Mack is also very tough. There is no wonder high majors are already inquiring. Going forward Myles will get stronger, and should further develop his shooting ability, including mid-range shots.
Hugh Robert, 6’3” freshman G, Triple Threat – able to play both guard positions, Robert scored, passed, and defended well. A slender player who seems to be growing taller, Robert must get stronger, which will allow him to also play as a swingman, thereby increasing his attractiveness to colleges.

15’s Second Team

James Robinson, 6’1” eighth grade G, Pro City 3S Express – possessing a very advanced game for his age, Robinson can do just about everything, including seemingly having a good understanding of the game. Given his young age, ongoing experience will benefit him, in addition to the ability to consistently can long jumpers.

Another pre-high school player, James Robinson, will attend DeMatha Catholic High School.

Cahli Thomas, 6’0” freshman G, Triple Threat – saving his best for last, a late playoff round defeat, Thomas showed he can get buckets, particularly from the three point line. A football athlete as well, Chali can benefit from greater lateral quickness.
Quinn Cook, 6’0” freshman G, DC Assault – despite slightly injuring his knee, Cook had a great TYBS tournament, as he displayed his penchant for getting into the lane and making things happen, whether by shooting or passing. Quinn needs to of course get stronger, but also challenge opponents defensively like he does on the offensive end of the floor.
Kris Jenkins, 6’5” seventh grade F, DC Assault – possessing good size and agility for his age, Jenkins is the talk of middle school ball in the DC area. Able to score around the rim via strength and skill, Jenkins would do well to develop his perimeter player skills, thereby hedging against the possibility of not growing anymore.
Nate Britt II – 5’10” seventh grade G, DC Assault – a good player who reportedly is an ambidextrous shooter, Britt showed he can put the ball in the net. A smart young man, expect him to work on his handle, thereby allowing for a possible switch to point guard in high school.
Tyler Hubbard, 5’11” freshman G, MD Bulls – having recently switched from DC Assault, Hubbard handled competing against his old mates well, shooting the rock with aplomb. Though he does possess a decent handle, it must be improved going forward, as doing so will create options for himself.

14u Standouts

A.B. Kamara, 5’11” eighth grade G, DC Blue Devils – MVP of the championship game, Kamara, a fairly strong young athlete, willed his team to a win.

Another eighth grader, Cyrus Jones will attend Baltimore's Gillam High School.

Cyrus Jones, 5’8” eighth grade G, Team Melo – a strong physical player who also excels on the football field, Jones does about everything on the court, including rebounding, shooting, and driving. He needs to work on developing different speeds – he only goes full blast now – and moderating his physical, football mentality.
