May 12, 2008 – Following are the All-Tourney Teams (17u and 16u
age classifications of DC
Assault’s Take Your Best Shot, recently held at Hoop
Magic Sports Academy. All participating age groups are included. If
the player has committed orally to a school, that institution is bracketed.
17 and under First Team
Rodney McGruder – 6’5” junior swingman,
DC Assault [K-State] – did what he does, attacked the rim and played
hard. Jumper and handle steadily improving.
Mouphtaou Yarou – 6’9” junior F/C,
DC Blue Devils – displayed strength, footwork, and shooting touch.
More experience will be a benefit.

A native of Benin, West Africa, Mouphtaou
Yarou is a powerful players with skills.
Darryl Traynham – 5’9” junior PG, DC
Assault – floor leader has matured, and is on his team’s controls.
Next step is consistent outside ‘j’, which when coupled with
his impressive on-ball defense will make him complete.
Wally Judge – 6’9” junior F, DC Assault
[K-State] – has become stronger and more confident. Overall consistency
is the key to his becoming s household name in college.
Terrell Vinson – 6’5” junior F, WPC
Elite – versatile player is still working his way to the perimeter,
where he will play more in college. Resultantly, expect him to continue
tightening his full court handle and ability to face up in the half court.
17 and under Second Team
Isaiah Armwood – 6’8” junior F, WPC
Elite – run and jump athlete has strengthened his spot up jumpshooting
skills. Next will be handle and stop and pop jumper. Will battle stronger
players.
Tyree Johnson – 5’10” sophomore PG,
Philly Pride (Cutino Mobley) – lightening quick point guard showed
he deserves to be recognized. Outside shooting must be stronger.

Isaiah Arwood is still one of the best
in terms of putting it down on the break.
Tjon Womack – 6’0” senior
G, WPC Elite – athletic performer constantly got to the rack. Decision
making can improve.
PJ Miller – 6’1” junior G, Hoop Magic
(White) – can get to the rack and finish. Will truly blossom when
he realized just how good he can be.
Alex Jackson – 6’5” F, WPC Elite –
played a good half court swingman role, in that he was able to face and
attack the rim, as well as rebound and bang. Athletic player that needs
to display more outside shooting ability for his size in mid-high major
ball.
16 and under First Team
Joshua Hairston – 6’9” sophomore F,
DC Assault – his perimeter work was evident, as Hairston is comfortable
in the mid-range. But don’t be fooled, he will post, bang, and defend.
Handle is coming along.
Ced Lindsay – 6’1” sophomore G, DC
Assault – is becoming a total guard since embracing a playmaking
role in addition to his trademark driving. Decison making can get better,
and is.
Jayon James – 6’5” sophomore F, Playaz
– can pat the ball, make plays for others/good decisions with the
rock, and get to the hole, at around 220 pounds with long arms. Expect
increased work on his quickness. Also an excellent student.

Jayon James, with work, can become a special
player.
Eric Atkins – 6’1” sophomore
G, DC Assault – showed increased offensive aggressiveness, a focus
if his. Passed well also. Increased strength will help his defense and
overall game. Heady on and off the floor.
Jemal Olasewere – 6’5” junior F, Washington
Shock – played both 16s and 17s due to age, and dominated at times
in both (would have at least been on 17s 2nd team). Strong and athletic,
he can bang down low, shoot his set jumper from three point land, and
defend bigs and swings. Will develop his ‘patting’ ability,
thereby opening his game; sky’s the limit.
16 and under Second Team
Lewis Young – 6’2” sophomore G, DC
Blue Devils – strong aggressive floor leader who also excels in
football. Must continue to hone his outside shot, out to three point land.
Devin Nelson – 6’4+” sophomore F, DC
Blue Devils – lefty is athletic, has good mid-range jumper, and
will battle. Needs to stress ballhandling development for next level.
Fuquan Edwin – 6’5” sophomore swingman,
Playaz – smooth, slashing finisher who will take big shots. Has
to continue focusing on handle and outside shooting touch to maximize
his potential.

Tyler Thornton is still the ever present
floor leader.
Tyler Thornton – 6’2”
sophomore G, DC Assault – ever the floor general, he also continues
to attack the rim. Increased offensive aggressiveness is his mission this
summer, one that looks to be on track. Will strap.
Ahmod George – 5’8” sophomore PG, DC
Blue Devils – An excellent title game for this point guard who likes
to attack of the dribble sealed his 2nd team nomination. Can find open
teammates. Needs to strengthen perimeter shooting, and at times focus
on finding teammates, as well as defense. .
