Keith Shivers, a high school junior at Wise (MD) that can really stroke it, shares his thoughts here!

February 8, 2011 - Hello everyone and welcome to my diary! So far this season my team is doing way better than anyone had expected. I believe this is hands down the best team in the county (PG) and possibly the state (MD). We have a lot of guys who are used to playing at a high level of competition which works in our favor.

Keith Shivers, working against Suitland.

I love our team system and the way we play together. My team has been working really hard in practices getting better individually and as a whole. We are currently 14-1 coming off of two big wins against Suitland high school and Parkdale high school.

One of our hardest games this season was on January 25th. We played against Suitland who is just as athletic and big as us. Going into that game we knew it was going to be tuff. Suitland got an early lead on us going on a 18-0 run in the first couple of minutes, but we eventually bounced back to win the game. Our coaches came in at halftime and told us that in order to win that game we needed to pick up the intensity. We knew it wasn’t going to be easy but we didn’t care because we knew we were better than that first half.

Wise has always been considered an underdog in the metropolitan area. Maybe because were the youngest school or maybe even because were a public school. Lots of people lack faith in us and really never give us credit but we always seem to make it far into the season. I just know that we are determined and hungry for a championship.

Thank you for reading my diary and I look forward to talking to you some more throughout the season!
