September 2, 2008 – If you could learn facets of the game from NCAA Division I coaches with a combined .700 winning percentage, including past national champion Gary Williams and Final Four participants Tom Crean and Jim Larranaga, would you? If those luminaries, who represent the University of Maryland, Marquette and George Mason respectively, along with Syracuse’s Quentin Hillsman, Xavier’s Sean Miller were teaching basketball concepts in an intimate setting, along with, get this, Hall of Fame coach Lefty Driesell speaking, would this interest you?

It should, and the opportunity to attend exists, via the D.M.V. Basketball Clinic.

Held September 20th at DeMatha Catholic High School, the D.M.V. Basketball Clinic will boast the above coaches specifically teaching short clock situations (Hillsman), offensive quick hitters (Crean), attacking zone defenses (Miller), full court pressure defense principals (Williams), and scramble defense (Larranaga), while Driesell speaks to the group. This full day of teaching and learning will begin at 9:00am, concluding at 5:00pm.

Cost is $75.00 for individuals, and $65.00 for groups of three. Remittance is accepted by personal check, cashiers check, money order, and cash, before or on the 20th. Click on www.dmvbasketballclinic.com for details, or contact dmvbasketballclinic@gmail.com. Calls are being fielded at 703.656.3662.

Still unsure of why you should attend. Just read the words of one of the event’s Clinic Directors, Kenny Johnson (Keith Stevens and Mike Jones serve as the other two): Personally, I remember when I attended my very first basketball clinic…I remember leaving with a notebook full of ideas and drills. More importantly, I left with the confidence that I was on the right path as a young coach…The terminology, the emphasis, and attention to detail that I saw inspired me and rejuvenated me to the point that I couldn't wait to get to practice”!

There’s little doubt all who attend the D.M.V. Basketball Clinic will feel similarly.

Be there.
