Thomas Stone forward choses NJIT.

November 15, 2009 - Two sport standout Dytanya Johnson has chosen his first love, hoops, over football, and in the process has signed a letter of intent, one that will see the 6'7", 200 pound forward spend four years in New Jersey.

"I'm going to sign it and mail it in" said Johnson Saturday, of executing his letter of intent - a document binding student athletes to a university on a yearly basis - to the New Jersey Institute of Technology. Regarding playing time prospects at the Newark, New Jersey school, he noted "I might have a chance to start".

Johnson, a physical, emotional player that excels rebounding, leading and causing havoc in the paint, chose NJIT "Mainly because there have been some other offers and interest, but they have been on me the longest". Dytanya went on to also note playing time as an important factor in his decision making.

Clock, minutes or burn, however you want to label the ability to play in games could have also been afforded him on the gridiron; Johnson is also a standout tight end at Thomas Stone High School (MD). He "talked to Rhode Island and Delaware", both standout NCAA Football Championship Sub-Division (formerly 1-AA) schools, but since hoops is first in Dytanya's heart, he was up front with them regarding which sport he would first like to play. Resultantly, those football programs and others didn't offer, yet continued to monitor him.

One thing is for certain, NJIT fans and followers will enjoy monitoring Johnson's hard, take no prisoners style of play. Congrats to Dytanya!
