More championship news:

- In 17 and under Capital Division action, the PA Crusaders mercy-ruled (won by garnering a 20 point lead late in the contest) Team Truth, 61-41. Junior swingman Jason Sabb (28 points) led the team in scoring, while Mike Scott (6 points) controlled the game’s tempo, despite a high ankle sprain.

“It was good, something we needed” said Darryl Scofield, the program’s coach and leader. “Our guys are very young”.

Scofield continued, saying “This time of year, at the end of tournaments, we have to show what we do”. The Crusaders did so, mercy-ruling three of their last four opponents.

- The Carolina Celtics earned the Easter Hoop Fest’s 16 and under crown, downing Team Truth. According to the squad’s coach since 1999, Jonathan Campbell, his squad is “the best 16 and under team in the country”.

While that’s certainly a significant claim, players such as Willis Hall, Robbie Dreher, and Devin Booker (who has orally committed to Clemson) buttress it.

Hailing from the South Carolina area, Campbell shared his team had to make an adjustment during the Hoop Fest.

“Coming up here, we had to get adjusted to their style of play” he said, contrasting it with the North Augusta Super Regional, which the Celtics won last week. “It’s much more contact up here. If these teams go down there playing like that, they would all foul out”.
