June 6, 2008 – For the 8th year, the Golden Child Awards Foundation (GCAF) presents its Charity Basketball Event, once again merging philanthropic and hoops concerns, for the betterment of a young person facing a life altering challenge. The group, headed by Executive Director Bill Wright, is still making a difference.

All proceeds will go directly to Olivia Anderson, a 15 year old Silver Spring, MD resident who due to a catastrophic accident in which she was crushed by a car, has needed 13 surgeries with another planned this month to save her legs.

Held at Trinity University in Northeast, Washington, DC, Friday-Sunday, the GCAF event boasts both men’s professional and both gender’s high school players competing for tourney title honors (see schedule below).

Be there to support Olivia, and in the process enjoy excellent hoops action. (For coverage of last year’s event, click here. For 2006 coverage, click here).
