D.C. vs Charm City, with both sides sporting some heavyweight additions.

August 29, 2011 – With National Basketball Association players told by franchise owners their services are currently not wanted – management has locked out the players in hopes of reshaping the league’s financial structure – the world’s best basketball players are in search of run, bump, action. Given their high skill level and great athletic ability, NBA players typically just don’t play with anybody, as they search for top flight competition in an effort to stay in shape and improve.

Recently Washington, DC was the site of just such a game, with that city’s Goodman League All-Stars taking on similar players from Los Angeles’ Drew League. The home standing Goodman crew eeked out a 135-134 victory, with NBA star Kevin Durant scoring 44 points.

Well, Baltimore will not be undone: Tomorrow, Tuesday August 30th, the Goodman All-Stars take on Charm City’s Melo League All-Stars, at Morgan State, University. Tip-off is 8p, cost being $40 regular admission, $100 on the floor.

Per Curt Lee, B’Mo hoops legend and event organizer, Goodman expects Durant, Brandon Jennings, Dante Cunningham, Jarrett Jack and Jeff Green – all NBA players, along with a few others like Hugh ‘Baby Shaq’ Jones and D-Nice. Only Jennings doesn't claim the D.C. area as home.

The Melo League side plans to sport league namesake and Charm City native Carmelo Anthony, mega-star Lebron James, Chris Paul, Donte Greene, Gary Neal and Josh Selby. Their entire roster is made of either standing NBA players or has just been drafted (Selby). Paul and James are the only non-Baltimorians.

Be sure to see if B'Mo can hold serve against D.C. in hoops action. You won’t be able to get as close as this to basketball luminaries, making Melo vs. Goodman must see rounball action.
