Need Exposure? Two opportunites occur this weekend.
September 6, 2010 - With fall almost upon us, student athletes are returning to high school en masse. For some, their names are well known by college recruiters, others, not so much. The DC-Baltimore areas have two events this weekend that can change some kid's fortunes. This Saturday at Hoop Magic Sports Academy (Chantilly, VA) and the next day, Baltimore, MD's Goucher College will host the Hoop Group Elite Northern Virginia, and Baltimore Top 100 events, respectively. Designed for boys presently in grades 10-12, the Top 100 events correspond with live evaluation periods for NCAA Division 2 and 3 coaches; resultantly, those collegiate basketball professionals can leave their campuses to personally scout players.
Donte Greene, a longtime Hoop Group participant, is one of many alumni playing presently playing professionally. Attending the Top 100 may not create a Greene, but that player, with work, can use it to get better. "Our goal is to give all the kids an event in the fall to showcase their skills to colleges and national recruiting guys" said Hoop Group Elite director, Chad Babel of the motivation behind the Top 100 events. Moreover, attendees will "receive basic instructions". Additionally, scouts from national recruiting services, will be present. The end result of their presence, as well as the coaches', is according to Babel, "if you are a guy not being recruited, especially a senior, it's a great way to get your name out there before the season starts". For $95 attendees can expect station work and games between 10a-3p. The former will be run, per Babel, by "Division 2 and 3 coaches and top level AAU coaches". In addition to jersey's distributed, Babel opined the instruction provided will allow players to "take something home with them"; add future effort and there is no reason players cannot improve as a result of attending. All inquires and questions should be directed to Chad Babel at chad@hoopgroup.com or 732.502.2255. It's a solid opportunity. See you there.
