October 29, 2008 – As reported earlier by i95Ballerz.com, Gonzaga College High School senior, Ian Hummer tipped his hat, indicating Princeton would likely be his future college home. The school’s head coach, Steve Turner, verified last night Hummer, a 6’6”, 225 pound forward decided yesterday the southernmost Ivy League school is for him after recently being admitted.

“At the end of the day, it was the right fit” shared Turner of the factors diving Hummer’s decision to attend Princeton. “He wanted to go to a place with strong academics”.

Adding to Ian’s Princeton determination was a familial pedigree: His father Ed attended Princeton in the ‘60’s, playing with Bill Bradley, while Ian’s uncle John also was a Tiger before being drafted in the first round by the National Basketball Association’s then operating franchise, the Buffalo Braves, in 1970.

Hummer (right), will be a key cog in Gonzaga's effort to repeat as Washington Catholic Athletic Conference champs.

“It’s an opportunity to carry on a family tradition” said Turner, a point Hummer shared previously as he noted “I’ve been going to reunions all the time” and resultantly has “seen the campus for like 10 years”.

The Tigers, coached by Sydney Johnson are getting a talented, physical player who is becoming more adept at perimeter play, including shooting with range and handling the ball in space. Alternatively, Ian can bang with players bigger than he, and as Turner said, “much of the time he wins those battles”.

Princeton fans can expect Hummer to play both forward positions, likely impacting Ivy League play from day one.

“He’s got a tremendous work ethic and understanding of the game” said Turner of Hummer, clearly proud that one of his student-athletes is poised to move on to bigger and better things.

We at i95Ballerz.com feel similarly. Keep doing your thing Ian. It’s working, don’t stop.
