February 7 2007 – Recently, DeMatha Catholic’s senior point guard Jeff Peterson reopened his recruitment, after having orally committed this fall to Princeton University. Both he and his coach, Mike Jones, shared light on the situation after their 78-71 victory over Towson Catholic. “Definitely, Princeton is still his leader” said Jones after DeMatha’s victory over Baltimore hoops power Towson Catholic, when asked of Peterson was still considering the Tigers. Peterson acknowledged the thought of playing for Joe Scott’s program still appeals to him greatly, but other options were being explored as well. At the time of the interview that included “Richmond”, as well as “Xavier” and some “A-10 (Conference) schools”. Subsequent conversations with Peterson and Jones have yielded St. Louis, Iowa, and Northern Iowa as additional suitors.
Jeff Peterson, shown here preparing for a foul shot, is still fielding offers, and consequently feels no immediate rush to pick a school. Of all the new colleges, the University of Richmond and William & Mary has extended firm scholarship offers, while the others have expressed varying levels of interest. There is no wonder schools are starting to find Peterson attractive, as not only is he is an excellent student, but has rebounded from leg injuries this summer, helping lead the Stags to an 18-3 record. A point guard capable of scoring, Jeff averages 14 points and eight assists per game, and logs major minutes as well – a fact Jones lamented after the Towson Catholic victory (see i95Ballerz.com coverage). school he chooses will receive a quality young man, student, and player.
