September 13, 2006 – Baltimore’s Jahmar Young, previously featured on i95Ballerz.com, has verbally committed to New Mexico State University, according to Young’s AAU/travel team coach, Anthony Lewis.

I think that’s a good fit for him” said Lewis, one of the most distinguished developers of basketball talent in not only Baltimore, but on the East Coast. “He’ll transition well there. With his ability to score, get to the rack, and get teammates involved, I think he could have done that anywhere”.

Jahmar Young, or 'J.Y.' has he is called, has displayed not only the skills to score, but is tough, fearless, and a willing leader. This picture was taken after he dominated in Nike Pro City Summer Challenge play, this summer.

New Mexico State bested A-10 and Colonial League schools, in addition to Providence for Young, who is also known by his nickname ‘J.Y.’. Jahmar is currently anticipating October’s college entrance exam administration, at which time he plans to slightly raise his score, and thereby obtain NCAA eligibility clearance.

According to sources, NMSU assistant coach Chris Pompey - a long time AAU and college coach with strong ties to the Capital Region (including both Baltimore and D.C.) - spearheaded Jahmar's recruitment.

The 6-5ish, 175lb guard Young’s path to Las Cruces, NM began on the Eastside of B’Mo and Dubois High School, with a year long stay at Fitchburg, MA’s Notre Dame Prep last season. He has played with Cecil Kirk AAU and Lewis since around the age of nine.

Handle your business J.Y., we at i95Ballerz.com support and applaud you.
