June 28, 2006 – The NBA Players Association Top 100 Camp is reserved for the best of the best. And although all of the top players in the country weren’t in attendance, one of the South’s finest was, and he made his presence known.

Playing his first three years at Madison, Alabama’s Bob Jones High, Keegan Bell has been known more as a scorer than a distributor, but I have a feeling that’s about to change. Speaking of change, Bell has also changed high schools.

The 6’0 160-pound point guard will go from being a Patriot to being a Trojan for his senior season. Bell is now at Hazel Green High and no one is happier than Keegan himself.

“I have developed friendships with some of the guys over the years and when I decided to transfer they convinced me to come their”, stated Bell. “I think we’ll have a really good team this year”.

Keegan will bring averages of 25 points and 11 assists to the Trojans, but feels his got a lot of growing in his game to do.

Bell, (upper left), is seen studying pointers given by NBA veteran Bobby Simmons (white shirt). Such instruction sessions were common during the NBAPA's Top 100 camp recently.

“I’ve been coming to this camp for three years and there are great players here. A setting like this helps you get better by facing bigger guys, both on the perimeter and down in the post”, exclaimed Bell.

Constant instruction by NBA vets has helped his speed and agility, an area Keegan knows he needs to work on in order to get ready for his final campaign in North Alabama.

Bell will bring a 3.8 GPA with his myriad of hoop skills to the University of Georgia in the fall of 2007. Bell chose Coach Dennis Felton’s squad over the likes of Illinois and Alabama, among others.

“I want to play at the highest level and Georgia was a great fit for me. I like Coach Felton and his staff a lot and the SEC is one of the top conferences in the country”, said Bell.

This Steve Nash-esque point guard will travel with the Alabama Lasers AAU team and attend the Nike Peach Jam in a couple of weeks. He will also be on display at Hazel Green’s team camp later this summer.
