Rising senior has last chance to make best impressionAugust 10, 2007 – J.O. Johnson should be the best team in the city of Huntsville (AL) this forthcoming basketball season. While the Jags will be loaded with talented youngsters, such as sophomores Joshua Langford and Antoine Jackson, they’ll rely heavily on the senior leadership of Roy McDonald and Patrick Carr. The 6’4 Carr is a swing man personified with the capabilities to play both the shooting guard and the small forward. Johnson will need this versatility if the Jags hope to improve on their mediocre 12-12 record last season. Johnson lost to city rival Lee High in the area playoffs. What Pat brings to the table beyond his versatility is his high basketball IQ and defensive prowess. Carr uses his length to bother small guards on the perimeter, while pulling bigger forwards away from the basket on offense and driving right past them for a lay up. “One of my goals this summer was to get stronger and improve my overall quickness and speed,” said Carr.
Johnson (AL) senior guard/forward Patrick Carr looks to help the Jags improve on their 12-12 record from last season Heading into his final campaign for Coach Ken Betts, Pat has garnered interest from both Division I and Division II schools, but is looking for offers from higher profile universities. Right now, no one has offered, but Lipscomb, Tennessee Tech and Alabama-Huntsville are recruiting him the hardest. “I’ve got to continue to keep working hard and more schools will begin to take notice of my game.”, said Pat, of his recruitment. The coachable Carr excels at the mid-range game and his efficiency enabled him to average nearly 10 points and five rebounds per game last season, despite not being the main scoring option for Johnson. “I owe my basketball development to this point to my father, Donald and brother, Bryan, who have worked with me since I was little and I am thankful for them being there for me,” exclaimed Pat. Pat enjoys also enjoys computers, movies and hanging out with his friends
in his spare time and sports a 2.7 grade point average.
