Williams returns to Baltimore to coach.

June 3, 2009 - Call it the return of the prodigal son. Reggie Williams is headed back to the Charm City.

No, he's not going to play - he last balled in the National Basketball Association in 1997 - Williams is going to coach in his hometown. The institution is Towson Catholic, a member of the famed Baltimore Catholic League.

Rumors long persisted that Williams was on a fast track to eventually coach is high school alma mater, Dunbar, where he graduated in 1993. His 1982-1983 Poet team is widely considered one of the best high school crews. Ever.

Precipitating the Towson Catholic job was the unexpected and sudden closure of Jericho Academy in Landover, MD, Reggie's last coaching position (one he held for three plus years). Of the incident, Williams recently told the Baltimore Sun "They shut down the whole high school. It was a surprise to everyone".

Jericho Academy finished with a 24-6 record last year, while Towson Catholic reached a 17-16 mark.

Josh Pratt, Towson's former coach who started at the suburban B'More school in 2005, is now the girl's coach at St. Vincent Pallotti, a Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association institution, as is Towson.
