August 14, 2007 – It’s official, Ron Anderson has signed a letter of commitment to Kansas State University. The official inking took place yesterday. “I was at my mother’s job, and we made the decision”, after which the Letter of Intent was faxed.

In the final running was KSU and Drexel (Providence’s scholarship situation proved unclear). “The decision between Drexel and K-State was the hardest decision I’ve made in a long time” noted the 6’7”, 240 pound forward.

Driving his decision, as previously reported by i95Ballerz.com, was a sense a familiarity, as Ron “was looking for a place that would remind me of my high school”.

“It was mostly familiar faces with Assault” Ron’s AAU home for the last several years continued Anderson. “Dalonte (Hill, KSU associate head coach) is like family, I’ve known him for a long time. And (head coach) Frank Barton reminds me of my coach. Dan Wadley at McCallie. They both are straight forward; they know what they want to get done”.

Ron Anderson will major in Business/Finance at Kansas State.

How will that be? “They (K State’s staff) said over the summer, since I can score pretty well with my back to the basket, they would use me like that. And of course I will provide hustle plays and rebound”.

A cerebral and talented frontcourt player, Anderson has worked tirelessly on his conditioning, thereby allowing him to take full advantage of his balletic footwork; skills that routinely allow him to grind defenders in the low and mid post.

Given the relatively quick nature of Ron’s decision – earlier this summer, his plan was to attend prep school in an effort to generate more collegiate hoops looks – and the fact Kansas State’s classes convene Monday, Anderson is faced with a quick preparation time, and immediate departure

“I’m leaving on Saturday, school starts Monday” said Anderson. “For the past three years, I’ve been at boarding school, so I know how to pack and go. I just have my shoes and clothes….I’ll come back and get the other stuff later”.

Kansas State, through the contacts of Hill, came back East and recruited another D.C. area/D.C. Assault baller. The community in Manhattan, Kansas will be happy they did.
