August 9, 2007 – New York City has long been considered a top producer of guards, as hoops in that city is predicated on getting to the rim, movement off the ball, and fast break play. There are some perimeter players hailing from the Big Apple that can shoot the rock well also. Sean Crawford, a resident of Laurelton (Queens), encompasses all of the above.

A class of 2008 student-athlete that just completed his junior year at Fitchburg, MA’s Notre Dame Prep, Crawford, who stands 5’10” and weighs around 160 pounds, shared he averaged “around eight points and seven assists” per contest, as he “didn’t have to do a lot of scoring”. It makes sense, considering Notre Dame was once again packed with talented, Division I-quality players - including one of the best in the nation, the Washington D.C. area’s Mike Beasley.

“I can be a scoring guard or a straight up point guard” said Crawford of his versatility and skill set, which features “shooting” and handling the ball, both of which compensate for his self-proclaimed weak point of “being physically undersized”.

After a successful season at Notre Dame, Shawn’s recruitment consisted of interest from schools in the Atlantic 10, Colonial Athletic, and Metro Atlantic Athletic conferences. With his successful showing at Adidas’ Super 64 Tournament with the D-1 Stars (NY) - including a 42 point performance - more colleges are sure to follow.

In addition to performing on the hardwood, Crawford has done work in the classroom, as he shared “I currently have a 3.2 (GPA) and received an 850 on my SAT”. Consequently, by the end of the upcoming school year, he expects to be fully qualified: Scholastics will not hinder Shawn from attending college on scholarship in 2008.
