Last month, Needham Cheely put together the first annual Southern
Classic, a confab of present JUCO or high school aged players probably
in need of a JUCO, designed to afford those players exposure. From all

players to attend the Classic, which follows. For all those interested

Two guards in order
1. Ladarius Hinton 6'3 stud from Lewisville S.C. he
is open
2. Matthew McCall 6'2 from Bladen N.C. Led his team to
state championship game open
3. Adonte McCarter 6'2 signed with Pitt Community college
4. Tyron Laughinghouse 6'3 animal. Athletic. Slashes
and shoots it well has to go JUCO but is real high flyer
5. Antonie Burns 6'1 Cummings High School (N.C.) can
shoot lights out and can play the one also but real player
6. Anthony Artis 6'2 wide shoulders and can shoot lights
out and can use body to finish at rim. JUCO
7. David Pittman 6'4 Bonner Acad N.C. can get up in the
air can run the one or two. Slashes best, shoots okay
8. Nico Humphery 6'2 Kerr Vance Acad. Can fill it up.
Tough player who can put it in the hole open
9. Tevin Simmons 6'3 can really play one or two but is
more suited for the two can put it
10. Odarius Hinton 6'2 Lewsville S.C. slashes and tuff
defensive minded kid twin brother to Ladarius Hinton

The Southern Classic did not disappoint.

1. Angelo Sharpless 6'5 the AKA "Wind Walker".
He tore everyone up; is not going to be qualified
2. Terrell Barrette 6'5 Farmville N.C. is getting major
attention from Tallahassee CC and other big JUCOs
3. Alex Murray 6'4, Terry Sanford High School (N.C).
Athletic and can shoot it will plays hard every possession real tuff
4. Ouan Nobles 6'4 South Central High School (N.C). Hit
30 plus several times this year; is lefty, athletic and qualified
5. Damien Williams 6'4 Jacksonville N.C. Can shoot and
plays hard can shoot well, probably a D2 player, is qualified
6. Sylvester Dreher 6'6, athletic and has big upside.
Plays hard, JUCO kid
7. Cor-J Cox besides Angelo probably the most athletic
kid in the state, he will dunk on anybody. 7'5 reach, tough
8. Terry McQueen 6'7 Bonner Acad. Slashes, Tough player
with a N.Y flare to his game
9. Teddie Waters 6'3 Snow Hill (N.C). Tough player, was
a out of shape but can put it in the hoop; more of a slasher
10. Rob Brown 6'7 A.C. Flora High School (S.C.) Strong
upside gets off the floor in a hurry and has midrange game
Bigs in order
1. Willie Barnes 6'7 240 Charis Prep (N.C.) Power player
can dunk anyway you want it, is 26 yrs old, can play for money overseas
2. Mike Coger 6'9 Dudley N.C, raw power player senior
will make any JUCO better
3. Nathan Priest 6'7 power player signed with Pembroke

4. Nick Jefferson 6'9 N.C. shot blocker with large upside
very, very long
5. Bryan Roberts 6'10 N.C. Shoots well for big needs
to get stronger in the post. With JUCO skys the limit
6. Akeem Daniels 6'6 235 D.H Conley High School. Real
savvy in the post can get it done. Knows how to use his body
7. Mike Wilkes 6'9 Byrd High School (N.C). Can adjust
shots and rebound; gets it done
8. Brian Hopkins 6'7 235. Very, very athletic and raw,
but can get it done on the glass and on the boards. Wide body that can get
up
9. La Quan Murphy 6'8 190 North Central High School (
S.C.) Has a real big upside. Gets off the ground and finishes around the
basket
10. Seth Smith 6'7 245 Cummings High School (N.C.) Big
kid with long arms his reach is 7'6, can use his body and is solid defender
in the post
