We have more Super Elite Showcase standouts

July 14, 2009 - In conjunction with Part 1, following are the Super Elite Showcase All Event Teams (third and fourth squads). It's been a long time since Richmond had this much high school aged talent under one roof.

Third Team

Torre Somerville - 5'7", 170 lbs, PG, Kid's First Basketball, Northwestern HS, Class of 2011 - Strong for his size and pretty quick, Somerville loves to drive and dish, while also frequently dropping in jumpers from the perimeter. Must learn to value possessions better by properly judging situations.

Don't be fooled, Summerville will 'rough you' if given the chance.

Stephan Battle - 6'6", 185 lbs, F, DC Assault 17u Blue, Thomas Stone HS, Class of 2010 - Battle always displays versatility, as he's able to hit perimeter shots and operate around the tin. Siena, Mount St. Mary's, Quinnipiac, and St. Francis have offered him. More will as his ball handling skills improve.

Jarvis Threat - 6'0", 155 lbs, G, VA Assault (16u), Highland Springs HS,Class of 2011 - Savvy and skilled, Jarvis can both score and run a team. Needs to get stronger and play defense consistently. Is getting looks from VCU, ODU, Towson, UVA, Eastern Michigan and Rider.

Threat can play both guard positions in high school, but tracks to be a point guard that can score in college.

Malick Kone - 6'6", 200 lbs, F, DC Assault 16u Blue, Roanoke Catholic HS, Class of 2011 - Previously a shooter primarily, Kone, who is from Guinea, West Africa, is starting to develop shake and bake moves in half court face up. Still needs to work on his handle, but it's coming. Virginia Tech has shown interest.

Pierre Koffi - 6'8", 200 lbs, F, DC Assault 16u White,
Archbishop Carroll HS, Class of 2011 - Koffi loves to battle inside, where he rebounds and scores via put backs, many times being dunks. This athletic Ivory Coast guy must further his offensive skill set.

Daryl Traynham loves to get into the defense's teeth and find his teammates.

Daryl Traynham - 5'8", 165 lbs, PG, DC Assault 17u Gold, Progressive Christian Academy, Class of 2010 - Another guy that would have likely been first team if he played more than a single game, Traynham did what he wanted to on the court; always known as a great set up man/change of pace player, Daryl can now pull up for perimeter shots. And as usual, is a crafty defender.

Previously he noted the likes of Kansas State, Oregon, St. Joseph's and Syracuse were on him, but as of right now his recruitment is something of a mystery.

Fourth Team

Elijah Matthews - 6'1", 207 lbs, G, DC Assault 17u Blue, St. Mary's Ryken HS, Class of 2010 - Having worked on his ball patting, Matthews is now a true athletic combo guard. Expect that development to continue.

Chris Martin - 6'1", 170 lbs, G, DC Assault 16u Gold, St. John's, Class of 2011 - Martin is embracing the point guard role, which meshes well with his shooting ability.

Though his handle skills and passing instincts have improved, Chris Martin can still tickle the twine from outside.

Nyv Segev - 6'5", 205 lbs, F, Sun Youth, Dawson (Montreal), Class of 2010 - Probably the best knock down shooter in Showcase competition, Segev needs to focus on ball handling and creating his own shot.

Eric Atkins - 6'1", 175lbs, G, DC Assault 17u Gold, Class of 2010 - Notre Dame recruit only played in one game, but still impressed by getting any shot he wanted, finding teammates, and running the show.

Jeffrey James - 6'4", 180 lbs, F/G, Bowie Xpress, Bowie HS - Class of 2010 - Has true point forward skills. At times must be more offensively aggressive.

Norman Pope - 5'9", 150 lbs, PG, DC Assault 17u Blue, St. John's HS, Class of 2009 - Possibly a sleeper, Pope can shoot and drive, while also finding teammates for shots. Must get stronger for contact, but has attracted Division I interest from North Carolina A&T, UMBC, Bucknell, St. Francis and others.

Pope has intrigued a number of mid-major schools.

Steele Davis - 6'9", 210 lbs, C/F, Kid's First Basketball (17U), TBD, Class of 2011 - Showed he can play in halfcourt and scatter court situations. Needs to focus on dominating around the tin.

Sherrod Baltimore - 5'11", 185 lbs, PG, DC Assault 16u Blue, Friendly HS, Class of 2011 - Baltimore can run a team, is aggressive, and makes plays. A tighter jumper, and realizing when to shoot it, will further his game.
