Chantilly, VA's Hoop Magic Sports Academy is the host to Team Takeover's first tourney.
March 25, 2009 – It is expected that recently formed Team Takeover, led by Keith Stevens and Kenny Johnson, would compete at the highest levels of grassroots basketball. What many don't realize is the group has the capacity to bring together top shelf travel teams for competition. If you didn't know, you will after this weekend. Friday-Sunday, We Takin' Over, a 15 and under through 17 and under boys travel team tournament, held at and in conjunction with Hoop Magic Sports Academy (Chantilly, VA) will prove that capacity. Proving the fact are teams from not only the DC/Baltimore area, but Philadelphia, Southern Virgina and Delware chosing the confab. Just ask Delaware Take Over's coach, Duane Coverdale. "I'm excited about it" said the longtime grassroots hoops coach and former head of the Delaware Sharpshooters. "Hoop Magic in general always puts on good events. Their events are always top shelf and exciting". When asked if he thought the teams scheduled to compete - ones drawn by both Team Takeover and Hoop Magic - would prepare his team going forward, Coverdale was effusive: "I think it will (prepare them). I actually used to not do tournaments until April...Trends change so I had to go with the flow. "With us (Delaware Takeover) being so spread out, it's hard. this give us a chance to implement some things". For schedule and other information, visit www.HoopMagicSA.com.
