Tournament honors the interests of Ted Cook
October 19, 2009 - Sometimes good people are lost early, individuals that leave a mark on Earth while here. Ted Cook, who passed about two years ago was just such a person. In a manner befitting both his passions, golf and helping people, Cook's life will be celebrated Thursday, October 22nd. "Ted was an avid golfer and philanthropist" said his widow, Jan Cook when asked to share the impetus for the 2nd Annual Ted Cook Memorial Golf Tournament, Luncheon and VIP Reception. "He held a golf tournament for about 15 years. And he gave a lot of money away".
Jan Cook, mother of Quinn (left), has spearheaded the 2nd Annual Ted Cook Memorial Golf Tournament, an event that celebrates the life of her husband and children's father, who recently passed away. All proceeds are earmarked for DeMatha Catholic High School, where the Cook family has a son, Quinn, attending and playing. More info follows: Tourney Time: 10a For specifics, call 202.437.7082 or 202.415.8442. Email should be directed to CookTournament@yahoo.com Jan Cook, who along with Ted attended Howard University, indicated "everyone is invited" to all events; this could include DeMatha and golf fans, coaches, people in town for Howard's homecoming and just those interested in assisting a worthy cause. "Come out and enjoy" she said. "It's going to be fun". It's a great way to jumpstart a normally hot weekend.
