Between traveling the globe and training pros and college/high school stars, Haniff Hill is once again bringing the Tom Jones League to DC
June 8, 2009 – Haniff Hill is a busy man. And that's an understatement; he has traveled the globe training professional basketball players, with locales such as China, Israel, and a myriad of European destinations having been visited. In addition to working with world class athletes in those places, Hill also trains many present college standouts and high school student-athletes. He has even been known to work out kids, tailoring player-specific regimens for them just as he does the pros. With those youngsters in mind, Hill is back in DC managing the Tom Jones Nike Elite Summer League. Hill has run it for over five years, but Tom Jones was initiated years ago by Haniff's dad, Howard University Sports Information Director Ed Hill, and a long time Northwest D.C. youth sports figure, Mitch Creddle.
Jarrett Jack, of the NBA's Indiana Pacers, is a Tom Jones League Alum. Of the League, which started yesterday and runs through July 22nd, the younger Hill has previously shared with i95Ballerz.com the confab, this year hositng 11 and under through 13 and udner age group competition, “is the first one throughout the country for kids that age, sponsored by Nike”. The boy's league is held at the Washington Metropolitan Boy's and Girl's Club No. 10, located at 2500 14th Street, NW, and boasts an impressive alumnit list, including, National Basketball Association pros Jarrett Jack, Roy Hibbert, Rudy Gay and Mike Beasley. The college players who have participated are too numerous to adequately provide. This year's team listing is as follows: 11 & Under Teams 1. Team Takeover 12 & Under Teams 1. Disciples 13 & Under Teams 1. Team Takeover The schedule for June is below. July's will be provided the first of that month. If you want to see the stars of tomorrow before they reach high school, come on down. The 'bump' and Hill's effort is such that i95Ballerz.com will periodically be there, despite not covering kids that young. For special events, special circumstances apply.
