March 27, 2008 – The 2008 travel team/grassroots season is off the ground, and Hoop Magic Sports Academy is in the thick of things, hosting the Triple Threat Triple S Super Spring Showcase this weekend. The event, as well as the facility’s remaining schedule is a boon for hoops enthusiats.

Starting Friday and extending through Sunday (see schedule above), boy’s travel teams in the 15, 16, and 17 under classifications will do hardwood battle. These squads, containing some of the best talent on the East Coast, hail from the D.C./B’More corridor, North Carolina, Philadelphia, Delaware and elsewhere.

Arize Ifejika, Hoop Magic’s Youth Event Director thinks this event is significant, not only for roundball concerns, but other issues as well. “I feel like it it’s significant for several reasons” shared Ifejika, a Florida A&M graduate recently via telephone. “First, it validates Hoop Magic Sports Academy not just as a top rate facility, but a an entity with an ability to offer high level tournaments, camps, and leagues. It also is very rewarding because off all the hard work and sacrifice not only individually, but as a company as a whole. It sends a clear message about the direction we are going in as a business”.

Going forward, Hoop Magic will host a slew of competitive events, as indicated above. These confabs include both boys and girls action, one is sponsored by the National Basketball Association’s Gilbert Arenas, and still another boasts top high school teams next fall. Click here for the schedule.

Ifejika, instrumental in preparing this ambitious event slate again feels not only top-rated hoops action is provided, but also “our entire schedule captures the essence of competitive grassroots basketball; from the younger kids to the elite older kids to the high schools, and it shows that there is more than enough room for success in this business for everyone”.

Added to the camps and clinics provided by Hoop Magic, the facility, owned and operated by Curtis Symonds, is clearly on the way to becoming THE spot in the DC/Baltimore area for basketball/sports event hosting.

Come catch the wave, which starts Friday. You will be well served in doing so this weekend as an observer, or in the future, as participant or fan.
