March 21, 2007 – Yesterday evening at Wise High School, close to 70 young men convened before college coaches from around 15 different two and four year colleges, in hopes of generating scholarship interest. From the looks of it, some did just that.

Conducted by the basketball staff at Wise, attendees first convened for group drills, then broke off for individual stations, and a central open run. It was the latter that college coaches focused upon.

Attendees listent to instructions before the Workout begins.

Briefly, the following schools were represented (others were present, but didn’t sign in):

Livingston College
Chesapeake College
Goucher College
Montgomery C.C. – Takoma Park
Montgomery C.C. – Germantown (several)
Salisbury University (two)
Marymount University
Montgomery C.C. – Silver Spring
Howard County C.C.
Hagerstown C.C.

After observing all the participants play, i95Ballerz.com was able to put together an All-Event team:

- Robert Nwanko – 6’7” senior center, Parkdale High School
- Cedric Dailey – 6’2” senior swingman, Oxon Hill High School
- Eric Johnson – 6’2” senior guard, Springbrook High School
- Justin Amokomowo, 6’3” swingman, formerly of Fred Phillip Junior College (looking for J.C. home)
- Thomas Gibson – 6’0” guard, Progressive Christian Academy (Prep Team)
- Kingsley Eger – 6’5” senior forward/center, Damascus High School
- Chris Leach – 6’4” senior forward, Gonzaga High School

Robert Nwanko, amongst others, distinguished himself.

Those interested in contacting these or any other young people who participated for scholarship opportunities, please contact their respective schools, or the staff at Wise High School (Click here for their contract information).

Next year’s event will prove even better attended. Wise’s staff should be commended for carrying enough about student athletes, particularly one’s they didn’t coach.

More coaching professionals should be follow suit.
