The Warriors of PCA start this year's Contact Period with a bang.

September 9, 2009 – Now that college coaches have entered the NCAA’s Contact Period – a period of time stretching from today thru October 5th – program leaders are out and about nationally, talking to the families of seniors, as well as evaluating players off of their campuses. It’s a very busy times for coaches, both college and high school.

To that end, the 2009 i95Ballerz.com Team Workout Series is here, documenting sessions held by schools in the DC/B’More area. The first one is Oxon Hill, MD’s, Progressive Christian Academy.

Two assistant coaches from big time programs, Larry Harrison (West Virginia) and Dalonte Hill (Kansas State) were present today. Many more are expected soon.

Jordan Goodman, though a well known recruiting target now, will solidify that thought with more consistent, aggressive inside play.

Renard Phillips, the school of 90 students’ Director of Basketball Operations, labeled the workout “a step forward to something big”, before continuing “I was excited, the kids were excited, to have a college coaches in the gym”. Philips in his first year at the program which has been in existence for eight years, felt the event “was culture shock, as a lot of kids don’t know what it takes to succeed”.

Progressive Christian fields two teams, prep school and varsity. Following are some of the program’s top players.

Prep Team

Marvin Benning – 6’1”, 175 pound, post grad point guard – Hailing from Toronto, Canada, the likes of Missouri and Washington have shown interest in this true point guard.

Windy City guy Delino Dear goes to the rim. Reportedly a full qualifier, Dear is focusing on strength development.

Brandon Jenkins - 6’0”, 180 pound, post grad guard – An Arizona native, Jenkins can score and defend. Penn State and San Diego State have shown interest.

Delino Dear – 6’9”, 195 pound, post grad forward – Temple, Oregon State and Wichita State have all shown interest in Dear, who can slash and finish. Hails from Chicago.

Varsity Team

Jordan Goodman – 6’9”, 210 pound, class of 2011 forward – Many schools are interested in Goodman, who shoots and operates on the perimeter well.

Kervin Rameau – 6’5, 180 pound, class of 2011 forward – Originally from Brooklyn, NY has received letters from Georgetown, Kansas State, and UMass, while West Virginia has inquired. Rameau has worked hard on his ball patting, can slash, and is athletic.

Romello Trimble, here throwing a lob pass from 25 feet out. To play with older, stronger and talented players will only benefit this pre-high school guy.

Darrick Woods – 6’5”, 175 pound, class of 2012 swingman – A slasher/finisher who is developing a solid jumper, Woods is a name to remember.

Romello Trimble - 6'4", 175 pound, class of 2013 swingman - As an eighth grader, Trimble catches your eye with the ability to play with older, stronger players. The sky's the limit with him.
